Product description

Lithofin MN Stain Stop is an impregnating agent from our range for marble, natural stone and concrete stone. Lithofin MN Stain Stop contains high-quality water-repellent and oil-repellent impregnating substances. It is a thin liquid, colorless and immediately ready for use.

Lithofin MN Stain Stop penetrates the surface and forms a wafer-thin, invisible layer in the capillaries. This has the advantage that oils and fats are not sucked in but remain on the surface. For marble and bluestone this is approximately 12 to 48 hours. For granite and gneiss this can be up to approximately 60 hours. The oil can be removed within the stated time without leaving stains. Even though a liquid (not acids) can remain for a long time, our advice is always to remove liquids immediately from the stone. The effect of this impregnating agent depends on the surface and the amount of product absorbed.

The appearance of the stone is retained

The characteristic appearance of natural stone is not changed, which has the advantage that the stone retains its natural appearance . However, with some types of stone, the color may deepen slightly, especially when applied liberally and with dark stones. Water absorption is greatly reduced with the aim of largely maintaining water vapor permeability. The impregnating agent is UV resistant, so it does not yellow on the stone.

Application

For a user-friendly, invisible stain-repellent treatment of almost all types of natural stone with a polished, ground to rough surface, and for concrete stone and composite (artificial stone). Particularly suitable for walls and floors in the kitchen, bathroom and other stain-sensitive surfaces, such as table tops, window sills and counter tops.

How do you use this stain stopper?

If you have not used this product before, treat it first a test area. Suitable tools to use when impregnating are a cloth, brush or sponge. For best results, the surfaces to be treated must be completely dry, clean and free of stains. To properly clean the surface, we recommend cleaning it with Lithofin MN Dirt Remover. After cleaning, allow the surface to dry thoroughly (a cleaned surface needs at least 24 hours to dry thoroughly). For larger surfaces it is recommended to work in parts of approximately 10 to 15 m2. This way you have a good overview of the parts to be treated.

You can start when the surface is completely dry, clean and stain-free. with the application of the Lithofin MN Stain Stopper. Apply Lithofin MN Stain Stop liberally until the surface is damp. Allow the stain stop to work into the surface for 15 minutes. Redistribute excess product and remove puddles and smears. On highly absorbent material or on dry areas it may be necessary to add some extra stain stopper. Remove all product residues within 30 minutes with a dry cloth. For larger surfaces, remove excess product with a squeegee and rub with a machine (white pad or lambskin).

Important to know: The Lithofin MN Stain Stopper must penetrate the surface. Do not let the agent dry on the surface.

Note: After treatment, a surface remains sensitive to acids. Unfortunately, non-absorbent or damp surfaces cannot be impregnated. Protect glass, ceramics and solvent-sensitive surfaces (lacquers, wood, etc.) against splashes. Only enter treated, still damp surfaces with clean overshoes. Used tools can be cleaned with a dilution.

Processing temperature: The temperature of the surfaces to be treated must be between 10 °C and 25 °C, set underfloor heating to a low setting or switch it off.

Drying time: after approx. 2 hours the surface can be walked on - with care. Completely dried and effective after 24 hours. During this time, do not use suction cups for transport, do not cover, absorb liquids immediately. The full effectiveness of the impregnating agent is achieved after 5 days.

What is the consumption of Lithofin MN Stain Stop?

How much Stain Stop is needed to treat a surface is highly dependent on the absorbency of the surface . With a second layer, consumption halves. You can assume the consumption below for the different types of stone.

Polished stone surfaces: approximately 12 to 15 m2 per liter.

For very dense stone up to 40 m2 per liter.

Break rough and sawn rough granite: approximately 5 to 7 m2 per liter.

Porous sandstone: approximately 3 to 6 m2 per liter.

Non-absorbent or moist surfaces cannot be impregnated!

Is this Stain Stopper safe for use in the kitchen?

This Lithofin product has been tested by an independent institute according to EU Regulation 1935/2004. These tests have shown that the use of Lithofin stain stopper is safe for surfaces that come into contact with food. This could be, for example, a counter top, kitchen top, but also a bar top or cutting board made of natural stone. Lithofin MN Stain Stop is safe for places and surfaces where food is prepared.
